Welcome to a quiet corner of the blog
From the Writer's Desk is a space where I step back from our formal topic highlights to share a few candid, unhurried reflections right from where I sit. It's an open invitation to pull up a chair, pause for a moment with a warm drink, and connect on a personal level.
A Quiet Behind-the-Scenes Truth
Have you ever finally found a free half-hour in your week, sat down to rest, and immediately felt a strange sense of restlessness—as if your mind was whispering that you should be doing something productive instead?
You are certainly not alone.
Why Does Rest Sometimes Feel So Unfamiliar?
In a society that celebrates fast results, constant availability, and packed schedules, slowing down can feel surprisingly counterintuitive. When our minds get used to running at a steady, high speed, stepping into stillness doesn't always bring instant relief. Sometimes, it simply brings up the noise we've been too busy to notice.
So often, we carry an invisible expectation that resting should feel immediately wonderful. But in my work and in my own daily rhythm, I am constantly reminded that easing into quiet is a gentle process, not an instant light switch.
Much like a waterlily resting quietly on the water's surface, finding stillness isn't about forcing the water to stop moving—it is simply allowing space for the ripples to settle at their own natural pace.
Gentle Shifts in Perspective
Reflecting on these themes isn't about reaching perfection or forcing yourself into a state of total calm. It can simply look like:
- Noticing the impulse to jump up and cross one more thing off the list.
- Listening to your energy exactly as it feels today, without judging it.
- Giving yourself permission to let a quiet moment be "enough," even if it feels a little unfamiliar at first.
Thank you for sharing this quiet space with me throughout the past month. Whether you are simply reading along, pausing to reflect in your own time, or feeling curious about working together one-to-one, please know that space is always held for you here.
Warmly,
Lisa x
